FAQs about Course Copies
Testing Information
If your course included quizzes with Respondus Lockdown Browser or ProctorU enabled, these often appear in the new course with the expected “ … requires Lockdown Browser …” or “ … ProctorU …” in the quiz title, but the settings do not copy into the new course.
When copying Respondus Lockdown Browser or ProctorU quizzes, take the following steps in the new course:
Open each quiz.
Confirm or reset the Respondus and ProctorU settings.
If the course copied included assignments using an LTI, validate the integration in the new course and confirm any corresponding assignments in the new course.
Due Date Information
When course copying from one Canvas course to another Canvas course, use the automatic due date changer to update the due dates into the future semester.
When doing a course copy from Middleware, all due dates should be automatically cleared out of the Canvas course, giving you a blank slate.
Before doing a course copy where the instructor does not intend to update the due dates right away, the instructor should go to the past-semester course they’re copying and turn off the Missing Submission Policy setting. If you cannot update this setting, create a Help Ticket to get assistance from LTS.
Note: uncheck the “Automatically apply grade for missing submissions” box during a Canvas to Canvas course copy to avoid your new course’s gradebook auto- and bulk-generating all 0s. If this happens by mistake, create a Help Ticket to get assistance from LTS as soon as possible.
