Moving Content from Google Drive to Panopto

This article guides users on how to migrate their Google Drive content to the Panopto platform.

Instructions

Step 1: Log into your Google Drive account.

Log into Google Drive.

Step 2: Find the File(s) you would like to migrate

Once you locate the file(s) you would like to migrate, you can bulk download or individually download content. Unfortunately, if you are moving move than 15 videos at once, you may run into issues bulk downloading your files depending on file size.

Step 3A: Download your File(s)

  1. To download your file(s), Click the file to download.

    1. To download multiple files, press Command (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) then click any other files.

  2. Right-click and select download.

Tip: You can’t drag a file or folder directly to your desktop.

If you can’t Download a file

If you can't download a file, the owner may have disabled options to print, download, or copy for people with only comment or view access.

Step 4A: Upload videos to Panopto

Navigate to https://boisestate.hosted.panopto.com , and select the MyBoiseState option. After logging in via Boise State single sign-on, your account will be created automatically.

Once in Panopto, click on the Create menu, then Upload Media. Here, in bulk, you can click to select your recently downloaded files from Techsmith Relay, and they will be uploaded to your personal folder.

Step 4B: Merging captions to Panopto video (optional)

If your video has captions associated with it, you can merge them with your Panopto video, once it has uploaded:

  1. Under the video, click on Settings.

  2. On the left-hand menu, click on Captions.

  3. Under Upload Captions, click on Browse.

  4. Find the .SRT file and click Upload Captions.

  5. Navigate to your video to review the captions for accuracy.
