Creating Closed Captions in Camtasia
Instructions
- Open your video in Camtasia.
- In the panel on the left where you can select your media, click More at the bottom, then select Audio Effects.
- From the Audio Effects menu, click and drag Captions to your media on the timeline.
You will now see a waveform view appear above the timeline. To begin editing captions, click on the waveform at the first sound. This will highlight a small amount of the waveform in purple and show a text box where you can edit your captions.
You can change the length of time that the caption appears by changing the Duration slider. You generally should keep this between 3-7 seconds.
- Add captions to the text box and work through the rest of your video by clicking the Next Caption arrow to the right of the replay icon.
Importing Captions
If you already have captions generated by another tool, you can import them into Camtasia by selecting File > Import > Captions... and selecting the generated caption file.
