Zoom Recording

Read Zoom Settings article before continuing.

Zoom is a great tool that can be used to record more than just meetings. Some of the options include Presentations, Interviews, Whiteboards, and Khan Style Videos.

We recommend Recording to the Cloud to make life easier for everyone. Videos are automatically added to your Panopto account under ‘Meeting Recordings’ where they will live indefinitely. Use the steps below for recording with Zoom.

Check For Updates

If you haven’t already Download and install Zoom.

Before you start the call you will be recording, be sure you are running the latest Zoom Meetings Client. Zoom is constantly rolling out new updates, features, and bug fixes.

  • Open the Zoom desktop app and sign in using your Boise State credentials

  • Click your profile icon in the top right and then click “Check for Updates.”

    • Ask that any guests do the same thing before you start the meeting.

Record the Zoom Video

  1. Zoom will automatically store videos in your Panopto account in a folder called Meeting Recordings. Although an entire meeting can be recorded, we recommend recording only the needed parts of your meeting, as there are limitations on how many videos you can store.

  1. With your Zoom meeting running, either with just yourself or with participants, click Record to start recording.

  1. Choose "Record to the Cloud." eCampus Center recommends this method as uploading large video files is time-consuming and requires more bandwidth. There will be an audio announcement to any participants in the meeting that "This meeting is being recorded."

  1. When done recording, click "Stop" to stop recording

Choose "Yes" to confirm. There will be an audio announcement in the meeting that "The recording has stopped" and you will receive an email when the video is ready to view and share.
