Using the Document Camera (Doc Cam)
This article describes how to use the doc cam (document camera) in various contexts. Different classrooms are equipped with different doc cams so chooe the instructions that correspond with the specific tool in your classroom.
Access from the Classroom Computer
If using Zoom or Panopto to record your lecture, access the Document Camera application on the podium computer’s screen. If you use the Crestron control panel, your recording will not include the doc cam content.
Turn On the Doc Cam
Take note of the brand of doc cam and follow the corresponding steps to get started.
ELMO
Turn on the Doc Cam by pressing the power button (turns blue) on the lectern.
Double-click the Elmo Interactive Toolbox or Image Mate 4 icon on the desktop.
If the Doc Cam does not launch automatically, select TX-1, LX-1, or L-12W from the camera selection.
Click the red X on either side at the top of the screen to close the program.
Turn off the Doc cam by pressing the power button on the Elmo until it turns red.
Samsung
Turn on the Doc Cam by pressing the power button on the lectern.
Double-click the Document Camera Software icon, SDP860 USB Viewer, on the desktop.
Click View, Full Screen from SDP860 USB Viewer to maximize the screen.
Click Esc to return to normal mode.
Click the X located in the right corner of the Doc Cam screen to exit.
Turn off the Doc Cam by pressing the Power button on the Samsung Doc Cam.
Access from the Crestron Control Panel
Press and hold the power button to turn the doc cam on.
Tap anywhere on the screen to wake the Crestron A/V control panel.
Tap ON under DISPLAY to turn the projector on.
Tap DOC CAM to display from the doc cam.
Experiment with where to place items under the doc cam for best results on the wall or screen.
