This article contains example of discussion post and reply instructions an instructor might choose to use in a Canvas course. These instructions are provided as examples only. They are not meant to address every potential scenario. Feel free to use them as a guide and edit them for your own course needs. If your course is a part of a fully online program, please refer to the program specifications and activity directions.
Example Discussion Board Instructions
How to Post to the Discussion
When activity instructions or a prompt are in the discussion description in the LMS, the steps to create an initial post are brief.
You may find it helpful to draft your post in a separate document then paste your work in the discussion space. When you are ready to share your initial post, follow these steps:
Click Reply.
Enter your post in the editor. Use the tools above the text entry space for formatting, adding hyperlinks, or embedding images as needed.
Click Post Reply to complete your post.
