QM 8.7 Vendor accessibility statements are provided for the technologies used in the course. (Important)

This standard addresses the need for course materials to provide accessibility statements and, where possible, user guides for all technologies required in the course. Students need to be aware of the accessibility features of the technologies they will be required to use, which is crucial information for learners who need to use assistive technologies or who have specific learning needs.

Students also need to know where to find help if they encounter difficulties with the technology, particularly those who may face barriers to learning due to disabilities.

This means that for any technology used in an online course (e.g., learning management systems, third-party websites, multimedia tools), there should be clear information available to students about how to access and use these technologies in ways that meet their accessibility needs.

General Suggestions

  • The course includes a link to the vendor accessibility statement or VPAT for each required technology (e.g., syllabus links to University Support and Policies).

  • If the software or tool you are using in the course is not part of the list of commonly used tools at Boise State, retrieve the accessibility and privacy statements from the software’s website, and provide the links in the course under Course Resources. Creating a separate page called Accessibility and Privacy Statement may be helpful.
