Leadership and Administrative Reports

Leadership and administrative reports align with the University’s organizational hierarchy. Access to these reports requires supervisor approval at a specified organizational hierarchy level (i.e., college, department or subject).

Response Data Threshold

No threshold reports = reports displaying the response data where fewer than 5 students enrolled in the course. Instructors typically do not have access to individualized section-instructor reports when this enrollment threshold is not met.

Question Types

Standard Questions = Questions programmed in Blue to appear on all course evaluations unless specific trigger conditions (show/hide) are also programmed as part of the course evaluation project. At Boise State, University, College and “specialty” questions (e.g., online, service learning, concurrent enrollment, etc.) are standard questions.
Placeholder Questions = Question bank questions grouped hierarchically by department, subject, subject-type and subject-catalog number that populate different areas on an evaluation whenever a course aligns with hierarchy requirements. There are a fixed number of placeholders but each placeholder can be used by multiple departments and subjects. At Boise State, department and subject-specific questions are stored in the question bank.

PDF Reports

These reports provide a viewer-friendly visualization of no threshold response data. Visualizations display data in accordance with the hierarchy indicated in the report name.

Common Uses for PDF Reports

Copying charts or tables for at-a-glance metrics in program summaries or presentations.

RAW Data CSVs

RAW response downloads are available for each type of PDF report. Unlike their PDF counterparts, the CSV downloads also include:

Instructor personalized question responses (section mean).
One row represents one student response per instructor, per course.
Example: If multiple instructors or teaching assistants (TAs) were evaluated, the report has one row per course - instructor/TA pairing. The University instructor-specific questions may vary by instructor/TA, but the course questions display the same values across instructors.

Common Uses for RAW Data Reports

Creating custom pivot tables to quickly drill into response data.

N/A = student selected or entered N/A.
D/A = question was not answered. Note: This may be due to the question not meeting display criteria or the student skipping the question.
Example 1: On a Nursing Department RAW Data report with response data for 1 online course and 20 face-to-face courses, the online course displays the mean rating given for the online course questions and the other 20 courses display D/A.
Example 2: On an Engineering Department RAW Data report, D/A displays where students skipped the University free text questions.

Export Reports

These no threshold export reports include:

Demographics such as section, instructor, session, college, etc., and response count, invited count and response rates.
Question responses (section mean).
One row represents one course-section.

Creating custom pivot tables to organize response data by demographics, hierarchy, course, etc.

Export Report Terms and Definitions

NRP = no response provided.
- Seen in export reports containing data for >1 course evaluations where at least one course triggered standard questions and another did not.
  Example 1: On a Nursing Department export report with response data for 1 online course and 20 face-to-face courses, the online course displays the mean rating given for the online course questions and the other 20 courses display NRP.
  Example 2: On an Engineering Department export with response data for 3 service learning courses, 2 internship courses and 5 face-to-face courses, only those courses flagged in PeopleSoft as service learning or internship display the mean rating and any courses that are not service learning or internship display NRP for the same questions.
Blank = question not displayed.
- Seen in export reports containing data for >1 course evaluations where at least one course met the criteria for displaying placeholder questions specific to a department or subject and another did not.
  Example 1: On a College of Health Sciences export report with response data for Nursing, Kinesiology and Respiratory Care programs, Respiratory Care questions are blank for Nursing and Kinesiology courses.

Section-Instructor (No Thresholds) Report

This report is the no threshold version of the Section-Instructor report that instructors receive; it is released to people who have elevated permissions in Blue.
