Sunsetting of Legacy Portfolio Tools

The purpose of this article is to notify users that Canvas is sundowning is legacy portfolio tools.

Notice of Sunsetting

Canvas has announced that its legacy portfolio tools including the

(1) older Canvas native account-level ePortfolio and the

(2) legacy Student ePortfolios / Folio (Portfolium)

will be retired on June 30, 2026.

How do I know if I am using any of these legacy tools?

To find out if you are using a legacy Canvas portfolio, check your Canvas global navigation menu for "ePortfolio". Legacy tools are being replaced by the new, core Canvas Portfolio tool, which is expected to replace all legacy tools by June 30, 2026.

If you see a link for "Portfolio," it is likely the new tool, while a link for "ePortfolio" indicates the legacy Portfolium integration

Instructions to identify your tool

  • Log in to your institution's Canvas account.

  • Look for the global navigation menu on the far left side of the screen.

  • Check the menu for a link named "ePortfolio" or "Folio."

    • A link for "Portfolio" likely refers to the new, core Canvas Portfolio tool, says the Instructure Community.

    • A link for "ePortfolio" or "Folio" is the legacy integration with Portfolium.

  • If you see neither, it's possible your institution has disabled the portfolio tools or uses a different system.
