How to Use s_accounts
s_accounts are established when employees require elevated access to Boise State systems such as Canvas. Historically, s_accounts were used as a mechanism for student employees to retain their normal student roles in Canvas or other systems.
Effective Jan 2025, s_accounts are the default mechanism for any employee who requires elevated access because these accounts can be auto-deprovisioned upon separation from the university.
What are s_accounts?
They are a slightly different login access that uses your Boise State credentials with a different username that has elevated access to Canvas for job duties.
How Do I Request an s_account?
Go to and fill out the Canvas Elevated s_account Access Request.
Select Submit, and wait to hear back with follow-up questions.
After a few days (maybe up to a week), you should receive an email from LTS saying your new s_account is set up and ready to login to.
How Do I Login to My s_account?
Open an ingonito window of any browser.
Log in the way you typically would, but using s_yourname as username.
For supervisors: If you have existing staff in this situation, or as your staff’s duties and roles evolve, please have them request an s_account following the processes above.
