Turn off the Discussion Summary AI Tool in Canvas Course

The Canvas Discussion Summary tool is an AI-based tool that will create a summary of your currently open discussion thread.

Note that this is a Teacher-role only tool. Students do not see this tool.

The Canvas Discussion Summary Tool is set as “On” but can be turned off by the Teacher.

Turn off the Discussion Summary AI Tool

  1. Enter your Canvas course and click on the Settings button on the bottom of the white-right-hand navigation menu.

  2. Click on the Feature Options tab.

  3. Scroll down to Discussion Summary.

  4. Click on the checkmark and select Disabled.

  5. Done! (you do not need to save this change, it is applied automatically)
