This guide is intended to support students using the Perusall + Canvas integration at Boise State.
Perusall is a tool that allows collaborative or social annotation. Instructors can upload course materials such as webpages or PDFs into their Perusall course site; students can then annotate comments directly onto the documents. Students can also reply to each other in threaded replies.
Some common use cases for Perusall include:
Students annotations to break down parts of documents which may be new to them, such as dense research articles
Students performing close readings of literary texts or primary historical documents
Facilitation of class discussion focused on course materials
Faculty annotations that add additional details or clarify aspects of the material which may be new or confusing
Guiding questions added by faculty for students to consider as they read
