Select on the File(s) you would like to remove.
To select multiple files, hold down the CNTRL or COMMAND key on your keyboard while clicking on the desired files.
Select the three dots next to one of the files and select Delete.
Verify the file is now removed from Canvas.
Disable Student Access to Files
In Canvas, the Files area automatically allows students to access Files in which you store in the course.
For some courses, this id useful for sharing files for students to download.
However, for most courses - instructors do not need students to have direct access to the Files area. So let's lock it up!
To hide and restrict Student Access to the Files area:
Click the Settings link from the course navigation menu.
Click the Navigation tab.
Click the Files(…)and select Disable.

The Files area will move to the hidden links section and will not be available to students.
Students can still access any file that is linked in a page or module.
